Just over a year ago, I launched my very own handmade jewellery business, Prosecco & Rubies. It's been a year of firsts, discovery and pushing my limits. Here are some of the highlights...
September 2018
I launched Prosecco & Rubies with my first collection, Villefranche, named after one of my Mum's favourite places to sit and have lunch in France! Remember that spiral motif? Remember the story...?!
October 2018
After the excitement of the launch and my first couple of sales, I lost no time in introducing my next collection, Paris...
November 2018
Christmas preparations took centre stage and I attended my first craft fair as a stallholder! I also made this stunning black onyx ring and my first few stacking rings.
December 2018
This month saw me finishing my Christmas commissions, taking part in Small Business Saturday, plus another couple of craft fairs. I also became a Fairtrade registered goldsmith as I worked with gold for the first time!
January - February 2019
I didn't have much time to take stock of where I'd got to after Christmas as I was delighted to have my work accepted at Focus Gallery in Nottingham. Once I had made my pieces and sent them on their way, I took a bit of time to recharge my batteries, experiment with some new designs and explore the delight of hygge.
March - April 2019
I didn't have long to rest before I had a Country House Spring Fair to prepare for, held at the beautiful Judges' Hotel. I decided to give my stall setup a complete makeover... (I had some help with my preparations!)
May - June 2019
This was a slightly quieter time for Prosecco & Rubies, but I had a very special ruby and 9kt gold ring commission to complete, as well as my first spot in the Pop-Up Shop, Yarm!
July - August 2019
Two words: summer holidays! At the start of July, I took a proper break for two weeks and went on holiday to Singapore. En route, I spotted a jeweller's bench as I was walking through Schipol airport, including a miniature bench that had been painstakingly made by hand. Once I returned, I got straight back to planning, organising and getting to grips with my new camera! I had more help with that...
Thank you so much for following me on my journey through this first year! I've learnt so much, from new jewellery making techniques and photography to marketing my business and managing my time effectively. I'm really looking forward to the next year and beyond, and I'll leave you with a few sneak peaks of my Nice collection which will be available online very soon!
Don't forget to join my mailing list if you would like to be the first to know when this is available, as well as receive my regular newsletter and other goodies!
Until next time!
